CONTROL THE BEAST
Ask an engineer to make a short list of equalizers that make his eyes and ears tingle, and he’ll
probably mention an inductor-based design with a nautical name that conjures up images of the god Poseidon.
The EQ section of this rare and legendary console reproduces the sounds of records you probably grew up on:
Queen, The Beatles, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones… Let’s just say it’s a “time-tested tool.”
Featured in very few studios, this console is renowned for its high musicality. One of the key components
behind its mojo is the unique interaction of the bands – increasing the gain of one band can result
in EQ curves that would require three or four bands on a parametric EQ.
With such a unique equalizer, there is much to learn. The interaction between its ranges is so unique that we have never
seen a digital reproduction that would make them easy to use. So we decided to complement it with an on-screen equalizer
that closely matches the features of the original equipment, making the Pulsar Poseidon easy to master.
With all its extra features (mid and side ranges, gain scale, auto gain, multiple saturation colors),
this plugin (VST /VST3/AU/AAX) faithfully reproduces the rare and iconic qualities of this console equalizer in the digital world.

make this one-of-a-kind equalizer easy to master.
EXTENDED RANGES FOR MODERN NEEDS
Although the original unit is highly regarded for its carefully selected discrete frequencies,
we have made the frequency controls continuous and extended their ranges to suit modern needs.
At that time, to provide a maximum equalizer frequency of up to 100 Hz, inductors the size of a fist would have been required.
FULL CONTROL WITH CURVE EDITING
With a full on-screen curve editor and spectrum analyzer, you can understand
how each band or filter shapes the sound. This world-leading approach will give you interesting insight into
what you’re doing and improve your workflow.
INCREASED VERSATILITY
As always, we’ve added intermediate processing for greater control over the stereo image, a gain control
to help you achieve the optimum EQ intensity, and an auto gain function
to match the output level to the input.
MULTIPLE SATURATION COLORS
Add rich analog distortion to your sources with multiple saturation circuits,
including the original unit’s circuit, which is well known for the tonal design of its preamps.
In addition, we’ve implemented two output transformer emulations for adding lower harmonics.
ACCURATE MODELING OF BAND INTERACTION
We have accurately reproduced the interaction of the bands in the original device. The shape of one filter depends on the settings of the others,
so you get asymmetrical bells and exotic curves. In the Pulsar Poseidon, these creative EQ shapes are
finally visible and easy to use.
“HITS OF YOUR CHILDHOOD”
As for the equalizers, simple but clever solutions were adopted
to reduce the noise level to the maximum possible level. One of the interesting tricks was the placement of
two parallel peak equalizers with minimal isolation between the ranges, which helps to maintain a low output impedance.
This remarkable intuitiveness made these equalizers great due to the musicality of the bands’ interaction.

Topology Preservation Technology
Our simulation technology ensures a perfect imitation of the original device’s behavior.
Everything from the saturation of diodes, transistors or tubes to minor internal filters
and tiny calibration defects is reproduced perfectly. Moreover, we can reproduce all these parameters
without resorting to full circuit simulation, which saves processor power.
Saturation Stage :
Boost your signal with one of two saturation circuits and adjust the processing power with the Drive knob.
The first mode accurately simulates the analog console circuit that inspired this plug-in,
while the second is a creation of the Pulsar sound, with a slightly more modern and aggressive character.
Modern version of the equalizer :
Intuitive control of the curve of an analog equalizer of an unusual shape. The curve editor is extremely easy to use,
thanks to a clear and concise display of the overall frequency response. You can edit all the properties of any filter
without touching the bottom panel.
Output Transformer :
The original console channel’s analog circuitry had no output transformer.
The Pulsar Poseidon offers two additional options: an output transformer modeled after the Marinair models
used in older Neve preamps, and a proprietary conversion algorithm optimized for boosting lower harmonics.
Midrange Processing :
Each range can be used for the entire stereo signal, or switched to work with a single focus:
just the midrange to process mono, centered sound, or just the side range
to process stereo, off-center sound.
Automatic gain :
This control compensates for volume changes introduced by the equalization system, maintaining the output level
in line with the input signal. A C-weighting algorithm
based on an analysis of the equalizer curve is used to adjust the level. The applied gain depends only on the equalizer settings
and does not change during playback.
Meter and Spectrum Analyzer :
The on-screen analyzer displays the audio spectrum in real time (fast and slow mode settings)
or over a long period (infinite spectrum setting). In addition, peak metering provides an overview of overall dynamics,
while RMS values allow you to monitor loudness and level compliance. An overall gain meter is also available.
Gain Scale :
For overall gain reduction or increase, the Gain Scale control allows you to boost or cut the entire EQ curve,
acting as a multiplier for the gain settings in all bands.
Oversampling :
For computers that can handle it, an oversampling mode is available with a processing rate of up to 384 kHz.
You can choose to have higher oversampling settings applied to export than to playback.
User-friendly graphical interface :
Pulsar Poseidon has an adaptive and resizable interface.
The resizing knob allows you to choose the perfect size for each use case – from nice and compact to highly visible.
