Description: This is the first of two packs created in collaboration with the Wula Drum Ensemble of the Wula Drum Company, an industry leader in producing high quality percussion instruments in West Africa. All percussion instruments were made in Guinea. This pack features kirin, congoma, two sizes of dundun (sangban and kenkeni), solo and djembe with accompaniment, and bass djembe. These instruments were used to create traditional holiday rhythms among the Mandinka people, a West African ethnic group that is part of the larger Mandinka linguistic family.
Mandinka communities were fairly autonomous and self-governing, led by a chief and a group of elders with an oral society where mythology, history and knowledge are passed down orally from one generation to the next. The Mandinka continue a long tradition of oral history through stories, songs and proverbs conveyed and transmitted through music, predominantly through drumming and percussion.
This pack features amazing rhythms designed for dance, movement and celebration used during weddings, parties and social events. We hope you use these sounds to add joy to your creations.
