Description: The developer Nembrini Audio has released a new product and this time it is not an amplifier simulator. Rather, it is the Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine plugin, a kind of delay effect that transforms a single note into full-fledged soundscapes on an album.
The plugin is built on the concepts and methods of studio engineers and producers from the early 1980s. This is mainly due to creative applications of reverb, pitch shifting, and feedback to create rich, moving soundscapes from any instrument and sound source.
The user interface is very clean and simple. It has been designed with real-time settings in mind, so the controls are color-coded and responsive. Ambient waves have their own section with controls for Time, Sensitivity and Ramp modes. The delay section has traditional controls for timing, offset, feedback, low and high cut.
The pitch switch is lowered by an octave with adjustable level and regeneration controls. Shimmer, also important for this distinct liveliness, has controls for level, distortion, mid-tones and regeneration. A Dry / Wet mixer knob and a pair of I / O peak meters round out the interface.
Shimmer Delay is great for creating fantastic sounds. Nembrini takes sound quality very seriously and the entry price makes this plugin a great value. If you like latency bordering on reverb and you know Pink Floyd’s material by heart, you might fall in love.
