Legion Series: 66-Trombones is a never-before-sampled symphonic trombone ensemble, inspired by its rich textures and unique range of timbres.
Recorded in our favorite oval-shaped Zlín Concert Hall, the library blends beautifully with our other Legion Series to create great bass. The sheer size of this ensemble allows the low speakers to remain incredibly detailed and perfectly balanced, even when playing quietly you can hear the rich texture of the band.
The 66 Trombone Legion series is an incredibly versatile library with rich and warm legato, big and colorful lows, bold fortissimo sustains, edgy shorts and effects. Epic is the only word that can be used to describe this instrument.
66-Trombones contains a wide range of common articulations, including nine different sustain types, four different natural legato styles, and nine different dynamic arc ranges, from soft and gentle to majestic and loud. We’ve also included aggressive and energetic staccato, which can be played in turn or rhythmically synchronized. With an ensemble of this size, we wanted to capture a set of unique articulations
Since we get the chance, we needed to record the band very accurately. To do this, we’ve included eight microphone positions, strategically positioned to capture the intensity of the ensemble playing from all angles. We used the standard microphone array used in all our libraries and a pair of Far and Wide microphones to capture the beautiful Zlín Hall. We’ve also used five strategically placed point mics so you can isolate a specific group of players or use them in any combination of keratizing ways. Finally, we have included two styles of our own mixes, including a “Clean Mix” for all mics and a dedicated “Trailer Mix” for a straightforward and epic woodwind sound.
