Description: Our long-awaited debut episode with Joseph Mount has arrived! Filmed at Motorbass in Paris, the Metronomy frontman takes us through the writing and production process of the band’s 2011 hit “The Bay.” Mount explains that the project required years of intermittent work and numerous changes in direction before everything fell into place. He opens with an early demo session in Logic Pro, demonstrating how a simple drone became the foundation of the recording. As he moves through each version of the song, we can hear the track getting closer and closer to its finish. Along the way, Joseph shares his experiences collaborating with others, writing lyrics, overcoming his insecurities as a singer, and revealing some of the innovative production techniques that gave the song its distinctive aesthetic. Finally, Joseph reveals the final mixing session, allowing us to see the finishing touches that brought the sounds to life.
