Preinstallation Notes
For DaVinci Resolve 18.5, we have tried to keep project libraries compatible with DaVinci Resolve 18.1.4. While this allows you to access the project library from 18.1.4, individual projects created or opened in 18.5 will no longer be available in 18.1.4.
Before opening projects in 18.5, it is recommended that you create a full backup of the project library, as well as backups of individual projects.
Descriptions
DaVinci Neural Engine based audio classification support for media pool clips in Studio.
Right-click on clips in the media pool to open the Audio Classification submenu to automatically assign audio classification categories (dialogue, effects, music) and effect subcategories in the audio metadata panel.
Classification greatly speeds up the editing process when viewing unfamiliar material, since you do not need to listen to the source files to identify them. New ‘Collections’ bins are provided for analyzed dialogues, music and effects, providing quick access to classified sounds.
Support fast backup for each timeline.
Edited timelines can now be automatically backed up locally for collaborative and non-collaborative projects in the local, network, and cloud project libraries. Users can choose to back up each timeline in a similar way to backing up projects. Timeline backup can be enabled in User Preferences under Project Saving and Loading. If this feature is enabled, the timeline will be backed up at the specified intervals and exported to the selected location. Users can view and restore backups from the timeline context menu in the media pool.
New algorithm 2x Enhanced Super Scale.
Powered by the DaVinci Neural Engine, Super Zoom features a new 2x Enhanced mode with extremely high 2x quality. The new mode also has sliders for adjusting noise reduction and sharpness. Users can select the “2x Enhanced” mode in the Clip Attributes or in the Inspector.
Ability to set superscale settings for media files in the video inspector.

English timeline audio can now be parsed to automatically transcribe and create text captions on a new subtitle track. This feature can be accessed from the Timeline menu by selecting Auto Caption in the editing timeline.

Users can select one or more clips in the media pool, click the Transcribe Audio button in the media pool header, or from the clip’s context menu. The action transcribes the audio and opens the transcription dialog. In the dialog box, users can select text, add bullets, and insert and edit related media files on the timeline.
Gradations from flattened multicams are copied into the corners.
When you smooth a multi-frame clip, the color ratings applied to the multi-frame clip are automatically applied to the underlying views, preserving changes to color ratings and effects.
Ability to manage render caches across projects.
There is a new render cache management window that will help you easily see the size and manage cache data for various projects in all project libraries. This cache manager can be accessed from the Playback menu under Delete Render Cache.
Smoother video update when the system cannot play in real time.
The editing timeline playback engine has been greatly improved, especially on heavily processed clips and low-end systems. Previously, when the system performance was insufficient, video refresh was very smooth. Now the video update is much smoother and the audio is still playing in real time.
Support for USD-based workflows in Fusion.
The Universal Scene Descriptor USD framework is a set of open standards for interacting with, describing, storing, and interpreting 3D scene information in a common, collaborative format. It also defines standard interfaces for plugins, renderers (including the Storm GPU’s own built-in renderer), and other host/client interfaces.

New multi-blend tool for compositing and managing multiple layers.
Multiblend allows you to connect and manage multiple foreground sources as a composite stack of layers. In the inspector, you can adjust layers, toggle the visibility of layers, and rename them. Each foreground layer has its own controls, so you can change individual properties such as position, size, and application modes. Users can also right-click on a layer to split the multiblend (creating a new multiblend with the layers above the selection) and also have the option to navigate to connected tools.
Color management in the Resolve timeline.
Custom timelines now allow you to override color management settings on each timeline. This allows you to set independent time and output color spaces for each timeline, as well as other color management properties. All existing custom timelines are automatically initialized with the color management settings from the project.
Support for overlays and marker annotations in the viewer.
The Color Viewer now supports overlays and annotations for timeline markers and clips. In the options menu of the 3-dot menu, turn on marker overlay. When an annotation mode is selected in the viewer, the annotation tools are displayed in the toolbar. Drawing annotations on a frame without a marker creates a new timeline marker.
Support for showing missing LUTs as an overlay in the viewer.
Clips with missing LUTs no longer display a missing LUT warning dialog. Instead, the viewer shows an overlay in the lower right corner of the screen with the name of the LUT if one or more LUTs are missing. This allows you to quickly view missing LUTs without interrupting your work. Multiple missing LUTs can be viewed and managed from the Missing LUTs tab in the LUT Gallery.
Ability to manage missing LUTs from the LUT manager.
The LUT Gallery displays a new “Missing LUTs” tab when one or more LUTs are not found in the given timeline and project. This makes it possible to view a list of missing LUTs so that they can be managed accordingly.
Improved selection mode behavior in HDR gradation.
The selection mode behavior on the Color page has been improved when grading with the HDR tool. Now the selection mode merges all keyers and alphas with the last used HDR zone.
Resolve FX Relight is an AI-powered tool for adding virtual lighting to Studio.
The new Relight, powered by the DaVinci Neural Engine, allows you to place virtual lights in your scene after shooting.
Users can add Relight nodes to create a scene surface map and define virtual lights.
Light sources can be directional, point or spotlights, adjustable in color, surface softness and specularity. Light intensity information is put into the alpha channel for use with any of Resolve’s existing gradation tools.
When adding multiple lights, users can generate a surface map on the Relight start node, output the result, and connect inputs for additional Relights from the output of the key. Alternatively, users can use the matte inputs Users can freely manipulate each light source using a cached surface map to improve real-time performance.
Automatic control of inputs and outputs for Resolve FX grading nodes.
Resolve FX plugins applied on color grading nodes now automatically adjust the inputs and outputs needed and generated by the plugin. This eliminates the need to drag and drop these plugins as independent FX nodes. In addition, Resolve FX plugins dragged into an empty area in the node graph area now create color correction nodes with the effect applied. To create FX nodes, drag the plugin into the node graph area.
Support for editing and mixing groups in Fairlight.
With Edit and Mix Groups, it is now possible to group related tracks or mixer channels into groups, allowing automation of mixing or editing operations for all members of the group. Groups can be nested (smaller groups within larger ones) or temporarily suspended, allowing you to quickly switch attention from individual tracks, smaller groups of tracks, and on to larger groups. In the Editing Timeline, you can draw or edit automation on multiple grouped tracks at once. Choose which attributes you want to group, including edit, mix automation, record on, solo, or mute.
Improved processing of the elastic wave pitch with the ability to use algorithms for a specific voice.
You can select a new voice-centric pitch shift option when applying an elastic wave to a clip. Right-click on the clip to be retimed and select Elastic Wave, Voice. For clips without voices, you can select the existing “General Purpose” algorithm.
Support for nested VCAs.
Now VCAs can be assigned to other VCAs from the mixer.
Improved support for Dolby Atmos in Studio.
For Dolby Atmos monitoring, this update adds 9.1.6 and 5.1.4 formats, as well as support for personalized HRTF binaural rendering. Other additions include Atmos re-rendering capabilities, 5.1-based real-time volume measurement, and support for 96Khz master files.
Possibility of streaming and spot playback from applications such as Soundminer.
Users can use external sound effects database applications such as Soundminer to define samples or entire sound effect clips and place them on the Fairlight timeline. Media files will be placed in a special basket.
While a custom audio system can be used to monitor Resolve or external applications standalone, the Soundminer AU monitor (Mac) or Rewire plug-in can alternatively be used to provide full real-time monitoring of the Fairlight mix and routing with effects.
Login and upload videos directly to TikTok from DaVinci Resolve.
Users can now upload videos directly to TikTok. Sign in to TikTok from the “Internet Accounts” tab in DaVinci Resolve’s system settings. Once logged in, you can use the TikTok delivery page and quick export presets to directly upload.
Remote Monitoring Improvements in Studio
DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.5 introduces a number of improvements and features for remote monitoring.
Users can now initiate remote monitoring connections with their Blackmagic IDs and session code. You no longer need to deal with IP addresses and port forwarding to initiate a session. To use this feature, users can register a Blackmagic ID for free and log in.
To initiate a remote monitoring session, select Remote Monitoring from the Workspace menu, log in with your Blackmagic ID, select a codec and bit rate, and select Start Session. Share the session code with clients to initiate the connection. After accepting the connection in the session window, the client will be able to see the output video stream.
DaVinci Resolve Studio supports streaming to multiple remote monitoring clients simultaneously. The bandwidth used depends on the number of client connections. Insufficient bandwidth will affect playback quality on all clients.
Customers can monitor streams from a native window in the DaVinci Remote Monitor application on Mac, Windows, or Linux computer displays with DaVinci Resolve Studio installed.
DaVinci Resolve Studio on Mac can now initiate and launch monitoring sessions. Windows and Linux systems still require a compatible NVIDIA GPU and supporting drivers to initiate or view a monitoring session. The remote monitoring application on Mac, Windows and Linux requires an activated version of DaVinci Resolve Studio on the same machine.
For the feature to work, the codec and profile selected in DaVinci Resolve Studio must be supported on client machines.
With the final release of DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.5, the DaVinci Remote Monitor app for iPhone and iPad will be introduced, allowing the device to be used as a remote monitoring client.
Remote monitoring uses WebRTC to initiate connections between DaVinci Resolve Studio and multiple clients. However, some highly restricted network settings may block session initiation, so a VPN may be required. For best performance, a wired connection is recommended.
Rocky Linux 8.6 installation environment for DaVinci Resolve.
Users who require a standardized Linux environment can download the new Linux ISO as noted in the “Linux Installation Instructions” note in the DaVinci Resolve Linux installer.
Optimized Blackmagic Cloud project library connections.
DaVinci Resolve 18.5 has improved performance when connecting to Blackmagic Cloud Project Libraries. In Preferences > General select the Optimize project library cloud data traffic option and restart the application.
Support for ProRes, AV1, H.264, MP3, AAC encoding in MKV containers.
When rendering MKV files, users of supported systems now have access to a wider range of video and audio formats. For format support, refer to the DaVinci Resolve codec support document.

treatment procedure :
