Description: This edition of Sessions was recorded on location in Dakar with producer and recording artist, Iss 814, to capture the sounds of nature and city life in Dakar. We recorded the sounds of city streets, street performers, and found sound percussion created by hitting sticks on various materials.
We walked through the streets of Les Almadies, taking in the ambient sounds of birds, the ocean and cars on the streets. We also collected trash strewn along the beaches and turned it into drum kits. The resulting package is electrified with an organic energy and vitality that can only be found in Dakar. The sounds in this pack were recorded using Zoom H6 portable digital recorders and a Sennheiser ME 66 shotgun microphone.
