Samples From Mars – Synare From Mars (BATTERY, KONTAKT, EXS, MACHINE, MPC, NNXT, STRUCTURE, WAV)

Analog drums, huge sabas and wild effects from the most evil drum synthesizer!
It looks and sounds like the most evil, analog flying saucer you’ve ever heard. Oscillators are huge and resemble much more expensive old synthesizers – color and extremely characteristic, and the filter has the lowest resonance that we’ve ever heard.
And although the most famous of its applications are classical disco volumes (beew, beew!), Synare is also used in reggae as a siren, as well as remains an excellent secret weapon for things from another world: UFO sounds, cosmic effects, white noise and analog sub-bass.

Recording process : Synare may seem rather simple at first, with only 5 presets and one pad. But with enough creative approach you can tame the most evil, immortal cosmic creature from the 70s. Combine your hard analog drums, demonic drones, soft synthesized leads and soul-sucking effects and you’ll get the most evil and diabolical psychedelia.

Synare is quite expressive for a variety of reasons :
• The filter is extremely characteristic, and its resonance has a devilish tone, unlike anything we’ve ever heard, especially when it was set to auto-oscillation.
• The envelope of this filter is modulated by cycling, and if combined with dickey, you can get very unique tones (for example, Tom’s famous preset)
• Oscillators are huge and extremely colorful – reminiscent of expensive vintage synthesizers such as Moogs and EMLs
• White noise bold and in combination with the filter is pretty bold.
• LFO, in combination with frequency modulation and filter with modulated cycling, can lead to real madness.

To make full use of the Velocity modulation functions during recording, we sampled the synthesizer’s gated signal, sent it to the Ableton sampler, and redirected this signal to various sync channels in the Synare trigger input.
This means that for most drum and FX sounds, you will get multisampled groups that differ in the degree of modulation of the envelope, volumes, frequency modulation, etc. All the drums were recorded through our reliable Reddi tube, API preamplifier and Otari reel. In addition to the bass drum (which does not exist in Synare and was created by us), other sounds are not processed.

Huge sub-bass and chromatic instruments : Oscillators in Synare are comparable with samples on more expensive original synthesizers, both in tone and weight. If this thing had a CV input, it would be one of the most powerful analog synthesizers of all time. Unfortunately, this does not happen, so we had to show a little creativity. We took the same sampled pulse, this time looping it to create an infinite sustain, equal in amplitude to the attack (thus creating a huge size of the sub). Then we sent it to Synare and manually tuned (with a guitar tuner) each note on the oscillator and let it through a vast array of analog filters (Moog, Overstayer), Hard clipping and EQ.
Wild, cosmic effects : In addition, we sent Synare through the original Re-201 Space Echo and sent it to the Eventide H3000, achieving insanely psychedelic (and long) drones, atonal melodies, industrial bells, whistles, black holes, UFOs (landing and take-off) , volumes with effects, percussion bits, space lasers. The results were recorded on the tape. They are ideal for ambient arrivals, endings, or for adding cosmic energies.
