Loopmasters are proud to announce that DJ Spen – Underground House is a lifelong work created by a terrific collection of clean underground House. Dj Spen collected the perfect combination of classical and modern sounds from his extensive personal library, including classical drums, warm vintage basses, jumping percussion and sensual synthesizers and keyboards.
Spen began his career at age 13, participating in the show for WEBB AM in Baltimore. With the creation of the label The Basement Boys in 1994, Spen created the company Jasper Street and released his first release of “A Feelin”. With Basement Boys and Jasper Street, Spen received commercial and dance success and became the producer of popular remixes.
Over the years, he has been creating remixes for some of the biggest names in the club world, such as Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Everything but the Girl, Toni Braxton, Kirk Franklin, Ann Nesby, and Shaun Escoffery. While working with Basement Boys, Spen in partnership with Teddy Douglas, Thommy Davis and Karizma created works that are still considered hymns of the house.
In 2012, Spen started Quantize Recordings with longtime partner Thommy Davis, producing tracks such as Jocelyn Brown, Barbara Tucker, Joi Cardwell, Melonie Daniels, Dawn Tallman and Tracy Hamlin. With a career of more than 30 years, Spen has become one of the most sought-after DJs in the US. It can be found by flying to concerts in some of the best clubs around the world. He regularly plays in the UK, as well as in France, Italy and Australia.
