Description : In the rich musical landscape of Trinidad and Tobago, the rhythm section, or “engine room”, as it is commonly called, is a group of percussion instruments in which steel drums have traditionally been accompanied, providing pulsation and rhythm for the entire band. The sound of the rhythm section is one that, when heard, evokes a sense of celebration and festival when it fills the air with the sound of iron and metal, an abrasive symphony of energy.
Laventille, considered to be the leading rhythm section in Trinidad, born on the Lavantil hills more than two decades ago, has become an object that can independently hold the entire performance in tension thanks to its instrumental and rhythmic innovations. The vibrations that are created whenever they appear can be called nothing more than phenomenal.
Indigisounds has teamed up with renowned electronic music duo and pioneers of Caribbean dance music, Jus Now, to present to producers around the world the first of its kind library of authentic rhythm samples that captures the unique sound of the Laventille rhythm section.
