Description : Orbitone Collection II was conceived as an addition to the original release of complex warm electronic textures made with unusual combinations of vintage technologies.
The 1972 Eminent 310 Unique was a very unusual combination of a combined organ and string synthesizer, but what was special was that it had a triple parallel analog chorus processor with 6 out of sync with LFO frequencies, better known as Orbitone. It is this complex multi-channel analog effect that creates the famous 310U strings, so this particular and slightly simplified technology was later used for good effect in the Solina and ARP Omni synthesizers. Originally it was designed to effectively convert one link of sawtooth waves into three with a high degree of motion.
Being self-assured, it suddenly occurred to me that I had a fantastically rare opportunity to try to power 1938 Novachord 346 through Orbitone to Eminent. Studying the 310U circuits for some time, I determined a potentially suitable point for inputting an external audio signal. To my delight, this led to the appearance of one of the most organic synthesizers I’ve ever heard.
Now, armed with this gigantic analog effects processor, I was curious to feed him a lot of other sources, including the mono-synthesizer CS-01. As with Novachord, I sampled the new patches that I created step-by-step with the 310U Orbitone along with Juno-106, CS-01, Crumar Bit One and Omega 8. In addition, some new sampled materials were taken from the instruments via an analog chorus including a number of brass and guitar timbres. Some of the guitar sounds were also created using the Minimoog 7751 and Bit One through the 1960s echo-reverb device. Another resonating chorus was made by filing Juno-106 with Polymoog Formant. In addition, the organ combination was sampled directly from Eminent and another harpsichord patch was used from Polymoog 203A 3211.
Orbitone Collection II uses the same proven 4-layer layering mechanism as in the previous release, but works on a completely new set of samples created using a different combination of source tools and technologies.
In addition to the new library with 40 patch examples and 40 multi-tools, 40 combined layers have been created that combine patches from both libraries together to form new layered tools and textures. New sounds were presented as merged, allowing the user to access and use patches from both libraries as one.
