With Bass Engine, we studied the past three decades of hip-hop production and selected the most characteristic bass sounds of that era. These basses include everything from dusty jazz vertical bass to the floor shaking 808 and everything in between.

Common production methods included extensive use of sampling using machines such as the MPC 60 MKII or SP-1200. Bass lines, where bass notes are usually made and lines shot from old 12-inch Funk, Soul and RnB vinyl records.
The first 100 presets in Bass Engine represent this unique sound, so be prepared for cracked vertical bass,
Muga deep tones, live electric patterns and abstract jazz bass sounds.
2000s
During the 2000s, the production technology changed slightly with an increase in the number of manufacturers using hardware bass synthesizers to achieve a pleasant deep and shrill sound. Emu Mo ‘Phatt was a popular rack module among some, while ASR-
10 and MPC 3000 were still widely used by traditional cratediggers.
The second 100 presets in Bass Engine represent this smoother sound, so you will find deep dirty bass, hard subtitles, Triton grease stains and clean vinyl cuts.
2010s
In 2010, the synthesizer, sub-bass and sound 808 dominated. Be it hip-hop, a trap,
Dubstep or even Reggie. These high-performance, but deep “dirty” bass sounds were destructive clubs and festivals around the world.
The final 100 presets include twenty different 808s, Moog Prodigy Subs, Warm MS-20 with deep vibrations and a whole collection of low and heavy bass.
