Description: Boomwchakers sampler libraryxBoomwchakers are musical instruments belonging to the percussion class, in the form of light, bright plastic tubes that emit pleasant melodically rich sounds when struck. Boomwchakers sound different depending on the color and size – each shade corresponds to a separate note in an octave. Synchronized musical tubes easily create both rhythm and melody. They appeared relatively recently – they were invented by Craig Ramsell in 1995. These instruments have gained wide popularity in the West, where they are increasingly used not only by teachers in music classes, but also during corporate events and holidays. Our colleagues were able to fully appreciate the advantages and possibilities of using Boomwhackers.

Boomwhackers are lightweight, hollow, color-coded, plastic tubes, tuned to musical pitches by length. Boomwhackers produce musical tones when struck together, on the floor, or against nearly any surface.

Boomwhackers are often used by performance artists and other musical performance groups to add an element of spectacle. Music educators also use them extensively to teach fundamental concepts in rhythm, harmony, and melody; they are also used in music therapy. We sampled 3 octaves of boomwhackers struck on a rubber surface. Recorded in stereo, 5 velocity layers and 5 round robins, both solo and ensemble versions (5 players).
