Description: A percussion instrument similar to the marimba, but I think with a richer tone. This is a hollow percussion drum, known in many primitive cultures, mainly in Africa and Southeast Asia. Typically made of wood, it consists of a box or log with cutouts or tongues that resonate when struck. This library sampled a modern example assembled by master craftsman Steve Roberts (tonguedrum.com), a 23-inch-long, 10-inch-wide, 8-inch-tall bass model made from African padauk and red oak. The instrument has 12 notes ranging from G of the first octave to D of 4 octaves.
Steve tuned his creation perfectly to capture the depth and warmth of its sound with maximum precision.680 MB Sample Library
