Description : Sonic Academy proudly welcomes Nate Raubenheimer, known as Protoculture, in order to take a look at a different type of genre and we will see how to make a hybrid orchestra. Moving away from his usual tracks, Nate leads us from beginning to end in creating this epic and grandiose masterpiece using both EastWest Play and NI Kontakt orchestral sections.
We’ll start by looking at the template and how to tune the various parts in your DAW, and create an initial sketch for some of the solo voices before breaking the sequence of MIDI chords into separate sections of the strings.
Using constantly changing automation lines to create realistic expression, we add brass sections and lead lines along with orchestral percussion elements to help with transitions. After the orchestral sections are completed, we apply synthesizers, pads and arps to create a sound wall before mixing the track and proceed with mastering.
This is a workshop on the use of orchestral elements in a digital environment. The tips and tricks that Nate will show us can be carried over to all kinds of genres.
