Description
Brainworx and Black Box Analog Design are proud to introduce the HG-Q plug-in,
a carefully modeled version of the upcoming HG-Q hardware equalizer, seven years in the making.
Building on the acclaimed collaboration that brought us the HG-2, this revolutionary equalizer combines
analog warmth with cutting-edge flexibility and tonal depth, bringing a whole new dimension to equalizers.

An EQ with rich saturation and impeccable cuts
With six bands of completely independent boosts and cuts, the HG-Q is a creative powerhouse
that transforms and enhances your sound in a completely unique way. The boosts combine the gain
with Black Box’s signature analog tubes, adding rich, creamy harmonic content
without muddy transients or degrading the clarity of the mix. The cuts are performed using a clean solid-state circuit
to reduce distortion. This results in the best of all worlds and unique interactions.
The HG-Q gives you sophisticated control over every element of your mix.

Dynamic control, maximum creativity
Sculpt frequencies to remove unwanted elements while enhancing key tonal characteristics
with the coveted creamy richness of the Black Box. Enjoy a warm analog tone with full control
over dynamic phase interactions and the ability to independently adjust Q values for each band.

This is the sound of modern analog.
Every frequency, every detail – completely under control
Unlike conventional saturation, the HG-Q circuit brings out lower-level details and increases the density of the mix,
resulting in a fuller, brighter sound. The “2X” mode further expands the range of the EQ,
allowing up to 16 dB of boost and cut with increased saturation that brings out every harmonic nuance.
The result is a more cohesive, balanced and musically appealing sound,
achievable even at aggressive settings.

Shape, change and rearrange everything within sight
HG-Q has a unique topology. Its bands interact with each other in completely new ways.
You’ll enjoy hearing how boosts and cuts add character to frequencies in other bands,
or observe and control these special interactions with the built-in spectrum analyzer.

A New Way to EQ
As you begin to boost, cut, add saturation, and switch between series
and parallel, you will discover a wildly complex new set of satisfying interactions and curves.
See, the HG-Q is not your average EQ, as its power lies in dramatically contouring
and reshaping audio material to enhance your mix in a masterly musical way.
It truly is the first of its kind.

Possibilities :
• Collaboration with Black Box Analog Design: The HG-Q plug-in is closely modeled after
the upcoming HG-Q hardware EQ, continuing the successful partnership that resulted in the acclaimed HG-2.
• Revolutionary EQ: Combines analog warmth with advanced flexibility
and tonal depth, opening up new possibilities in audio production.
• Six-band structure: Three independent bands of boost and three bands of cut,
providing precise control over every element of the mix.
• Simultaneous Frequency Shaping: Allows users to remove unwanted frequencies
while enhancing key tonal characteristics through dynamic phase interaction.
• Advanced Saturation Circuitry: Adds rich harmonic content without sacrificing
transients or clarity, enhancing low-end detail for a fuller sound.
• Tube Saturation in Gain Bands : Each gain band includes a tube saturation stage,
adding warmth and harmonic richness to the signal.
• Solid State Technology for Cutoff Filters: The cutoff filters use solid state technology
for precise, clean frequency removal.
• 2X Mode: Extends the EQ range, allowing you to boost and cut the sound by up to 16 dB,
increasing saturation for deeper harmonic nuances.
• Musical Phase Interaction: Adjust the Q of the cutoffs to make them narrower,
and switch between series and parallel modes to create musical phase interactions
that enhance elements of the mix.
• Stereo, M/S, dual mono, and mono processing
. • Features only available as a plug-in:
– Expanded view with multi-level knobs broken out into individual controls
– Aggressive saturation mode to free up harmonics
– High-resolution EQ curve to visualize the relationships and interactions between bands
– Auto-listening
– Scalable user interface

List of changes :
