Description: A true rock legend! The iconic, punchy mids and tremendous power of the Rickenbacker® 4003 are captured for the first time in Rickenbacker®-approved software.

The SCARBEE RICKENBACKER® BASS delivers the unmistakable Rickenbacker® 4003 sound for the first time in software. The RICKENBACKER® BASS is the first software instrument to be officially Rickenbacker®-approved, delivering the meaty lows and crisp mids that have shaped the history of rock and pop. Painstakingly sampled by Thomas Scarby, ideal for distortion and the first SCARBEE bass to be played with a pick, RICKENBACKER® BASS conveys all the character and versatility of the original in an ultra-flexible, fully authentic KONTAKT instrument.

To create the SCARBEE RICKENBACKER® BASS, a Rickenbacker® 4003 with stainless steel Rotosound strings was recorded directly into Pro Tools using premium Mogami cables and a Metric Halo LIO-8 preamp, ensuring that every nuance of this legendary bass is transmitted in its original quality.

The pick articulations, first available on SCARBEE, deliver the crisp sound that has been heard on countless rock and pop recordings since the 60s. Avoiding the built-in Rickenbacker® muting suppression system, palm muted articulations have been created with the pick over the bridge for true-to-life performance. Open articulations were played between the pickups, and both were recorded using the unique Rick-O-Sound stereo output for the classic Rickenbacker® tone.

The unique KONTAKT effects chain will add the final component to this Rickenbacker® instrument, with GUITAR RIG’s newly implemented Jump amp for maximum flexibility, plus ribbon saturator, EQ, and compressor from the SOLID MIX SERIES of professional studio effects.

The SCARBEE RICKENBACKER® BASS is based on the Rickenbacker® 4003 released in 1980 as the successor to the 4001, which has been in continuous use since 1960. Already known as the “mix sitter” against the backdrop of a guitar wall, the 4003 has dramatically improved sound quality. The bass response of the 4001 pickup delivers the balanced tonal response for which it is renowned. The crisp, thunderous sound of this bass has been immortalized on some of the most successful rock and pop albums in history and is now at your fingertips.

Thomas Skarbye is a respected bassist whose sound design brand has become synonymous with quality and playability. His sampled instruments have become the choice of leading producers and musicians around the world. To help create this Rickenbacker ™ instrument, Thomas again brought in Niels Lieberg – the same scripting master as SCARBEE FUNK GUITARIST, ALICIA’S KEYS and SCARBEE MM BASS.

Scarby and Native Instruments have released numerous instrument libraries for the industry-leading KONTAKT sampler and the free KONTAKT PLAYER. With SCARBEE’s renowned precision and detail, producers can count on a premium line of instruments across the musical spectrum.
