Mind if I mention a fantastic alternative to this software? Figuring the software’s listening to and converting note on/off, pitch, duration, loudness (interpreted as velocity), mono/poly data, etc., it’s got a pretty huge job to do with all the other DAW activity……
Sonuus makes a device—the i2m—about half a pack of cigarettes in size. One end has a 1/4″ Hi-Z input for any mono audio signal (guitar, bass, voice). The other end is a USB printer-type connector (the square one). Inside that box is lightning-quick audio-to-MIDI conversion…… the tracking speed is phenomenal. I paid around $140 for it several years ago when I also bought the Roland GR-55 synth with GK-2A pickup. I found myself using the i2m far more than that Roland unit. With the i2m you can play any VSTi but only single note mono. While the GR-55 synth’s pickup does handle polyphonic input (chords), it’s best poly use was in its guitar/amp/FX emulation. The i2m’s mono handling and tracking are fine for leads.
THe i2m is ALSO a fantastic USB audio interface. This isn’t a bash on this software, but I did find in trial use it’s pretty klunky.
