Description : Creating your own clean and modern saturation style is the most natural solution for eliminating unwanted peaks and increasing the overall volume of the signal.
In music, mixing and production, there are 4 methods for eliminating unwanted signal peaks and improving the overall loudness of the channels or the entire mix. These are: compression, hard / soft clipping clipping or saturation. While compression is used most often, it is not the best solution to eliminate unwanted peaks and higher overall loudness, because compressed signals often lose their dynamics, transients, clarity and transparency – compressed signals often sound pumped, crushed and unnatural.
For this reason, more and more known mixer engineers often use soft clipping and saturation of signals with analog tape or lamps that enrich the sound and provide a more natural reduction in unwanted peaks and an increase in overall volume. It is often better to combine saturation / soft suppression of clips together with compression and limiter and use 3 different instruments together to create a more natural sound, eliminating peaks and increasing the volume.
Hard digital peaks suppression = all peaks at a certain level will simply be cut out, which can create a sharp distorted sound. Saturation / soft (analog) clipping = all the peaks are rounded at a certain level, not cut out, which creates a pleasant and natural sound, eliminating the highest peaks and improving overall volume, often with a more natural sound than when compressing the signal.
