Band -in-a-Box® 2024 has over 50 new features!
These include many important new features. First, there’s the new Tracks window. Like most DAW track windows, this displays all tracks, allowing you to manipulate track data in a lossless environment familiar to DAW users.
The new Tracks window includes dedicated support for creating loops and phrases using content from RealTracks. There are now floating windows everywhere! Twelve legacy modal dialog boxes have been converted into non-modal floating windows so they can be used interactively with other features. These include new floating windows for Styles, RealTracks, RealDrums, Loops, UserTracks, MIDI SuperTracks, Custom MIDI Tracks, MIDI Soloists, Melodiists, F5 Bar Settings, Track Settings, and Chord Options. Major GUI improvements include the tabbed MultiPicker Library window.
This is a one-stop shop for selecting tracks from any of the 8 track types. All pickers share a common interface with a similar look and feel and functionality for filters, search, selection, audition and generation. Partial track generation has been added for each track type. Bar (F5) and pause/hit/hold/push adjustments can be made for all 24 tracks. The new chord progression builder allows you to interactively create your own progression, showing you the best next chords at any time. There are over 800 custom MIDI tracks (with demos) that users can add as separate MIDI tracks following the chords.
The playback engine speed has been increased and uses multiple CPU cores to speed up generation and rendering. There are improvements to Melodist & Soloist, support for reading lyrics and chord files generated by LyricLab AI, setting favorites for any track type, new data filters for tracks and much more!
The Band-in-a-Box® VST DAW plug-in has over 20 new features, including near-instant playback straight from disk for trying out different styles without creating WAV files. For Reaper DAW users, the plug-in adds native support for the Reaper DAW API, allowing you to directly transfer Band-in-a-Box files to/from Reaper tracks, including tiny lossless instruction files that instantly play audio from disk. You can now load chords from MIDI files. Added support for shoot/rest/holds on utility tracks, and more!
Installation and treatment :
1. Install the program.
2. Install updates (if any).
3. Cure for greed by copying and replacing files in the appropriate directories.
4. Install the necessary or all Realtracks and Add-ons.
5. Do the following when you first launch
a) With the BiaB program running – Help > Utilities > Run Cleanup routine… . You can clean the directory without running the program. To do this, enter the directory with the installed BiaB program (in my case it is BB) and open the Data directory (~\BB\Data) . Find and run the BB_Cleanup.exe file with administrator rights (right-click > Run as administrator). The reaction will be the same, a window will open in which you need to click the CleanUpNow button . Some movement will appear in the window, when finished, simply close the window (with a cross).
The cleaning procedure will create the correct folder and file structure in the BiaB directory .
The Band-in-a-Box® folder (usually C:\bb) has filled up with a lot of files over the years. In a full UltraPAK installation, it can contain up to 10,000 files. We have addressed this issue in the 2018 release by organizing the files into subfolders. This is done through a cleanup routine. Cleanup is usually done automatically during installation, but you can run it manually by selecting Help | Utilities | Run Cleanup Routine from the main menu.
b) File > Load Style from Stylepicker , or press Ctrl +F9 . In the window that opens, click Rebuild and select (Slow) Rebuild of PG Music and 3rd party styles .
Wait until it is finished.
Rebuilding the style list should be started after any update of the program or RealTracks.
6. Use it.
P.S. It is possible to install both an update of the previous version and a new one.
It is possible to install on any disk, including an external one.
If BiaB does not start :
In the catalog
~BB\Preferences
delete the following files :
intrface.bbw
MySetup.DK
The program will recreate them the next time you start it.
