.sf2 was ALL there was back (affordable) in early-mid 90’s. The Creative Soundblaster card was more than a gamer’s soundcard; it was the band that never missed a rehearsal, showed up sober to gigs, and the drummer that never forgot his sticks. I’ve never grasped how and why Creative was in THE perfect position to go to formats like 4-in, 4-out and more. The SB card carried a decent sound chip but when Yamaha released the XG standard the SB began falling away.
Thanks for these collections I hadn’t heard of but .sf2 is still alive. I think a couple VSTi’s load individual samples from the .sf2 banks? Discovery PRO possibly.
