Recorded using authentic 1955 ribbon microphones and era-specific vintage drums, Soulfi captures the heartbeat of a timeless era, reimagined by our innovative beatmaker.
To capture the dynamic drum sound typical of the era, we used vintage RCA ribbon microphones, with modern ribbon microphones playing a supporting role. Known for their smooth, natural response and rich tonal qualities, these classic microphones deliver an authentic, old-school feel.
Each drum was carefully recorded using iron alloy transformers, giving the recording a rich, warm analog sound that added depth and character to every hit.
The RCA microphones were paired with vintage tube equalizers to produce crisp sound and low end.
We created 41 different kits from over 100 vintage and modern drums that were recorded using multiple looping and velocity layers.
The selection of samples includes kick drum, snare drum, hi-hats, toms, rides, crashes, as well as a wide range of percussion elements such as bongos, maracas, cowbells, tambourines, shakers, clave, clicks, claps and much more.
We’ve created over 100 beats inspired by our favorite artists, decades, and styles.
