An old-school drum machine with 21st century sampling technologies: looping samples, multi-channel sounds, generative sequencers.
It features acoustic drums recorded in innovative ways to achieve a warm, dry, spacious sound. There are no traditional velocity layers here, just “normal” + “accent”. All sounds in AC-DR are generated by acoustic drums using microphones, contact microphones, live echo chambers and transformer distortion.
Each AC-DR drum module has up to 5 channels for mixing. Each of these channels is part of the same drum beat, all perfectly aligned in phase and time. Warm acoustic tones that you can customize and shape into analogue tones. All bass drum, snare, rimshot and tom samples were re-amped in Rockfield Studios’ two echo chambers. The resulting reverb samples can be mixed into a separate channel: a vital additional building block for drum design.
