It is designed using physical modeling principles based on the classic “feedback” topology when designing hardware circuits.
The detection rate of the side chain 925 is based on an analogue envelope detector circuit.
When used at extreme settings for sounds with sustain, it can cause distortion. This occurs when, due to the high speed of the detector, it follows the actual waveform rather than the envelope of the program material.
After much deliberation, it was decided not to exclude such a range of settings, since the process is very dependent on the program. Instead, the user is given complete control, because even if some settings are not suitable for a certain material, they are often perfect for another situation.
