Description: This instrument occupies a special place in the balalaika family.
It is the largest in size, and in terms of dynamics and sound – the most
powerful and low. Like all balalaikas, the double bass has three strings,
but their structure is different – E A D.
Balalaika double bass has the following tuning: first string – D major
octaves, the second – A counteroctave, and the third – E counteroctave.
This tuning expands the range of the instrument (from E counter octave
to G small octave). Notes are written in bass octave clef
higher than their actual sound. Play the double bass
a large leather pick that softens the sound and makes it
softer and deeper.
