This Sample CD, GUITAR TEXTURES is a beautifully crafted series of guitar movements. Synthesised from a real electric guitar, including ebow, the sounds on this sample CD are a beguiling mixture of the seductive and the experimental, calling to mind the work of artists such as Harold Budd, Robert Fripp and the Cocteau Twins
While some people benefit from being guitar players, some of us are cursed to a spectator position – unable to play a stringed instrument, or just cursed with no ability to get that particular sound. Homegrown sounds has made my dream come true with Guitar textures – a multi-format extravaganza of guitar oneshots and instrument sounds to evitalize any ailing tune – and it is aimed perfectly at recreating the dreamscape sounds of Cocteau Twins style guitar work. Heres the specs: 200 individual patches Compatible with Steinberg’s Halion, Emagic’s EXS24/EXSP24, Native Instruments Kontakt, and Reason’s NN-XT sampler. It is also available as a soundfont, with more presets than can be imagined. Of the 200 patches, 31 are labeled as Instrument and the rest are one-shots. The one shots vary between strummed melody lines, to arpeggiated delay effects, all with alot of depth. The instrument samples are poignant shots of pure bliss – each group (ebolisis, Resotar, Verbitar are some of the named groups) play out well over multiple octaves and provided me with hours of twiddling. Loop point wise, these are spot on great. No pops or clicks, and the one shots work well layered with each other, providing rich atmospheres and deep spatial ambience. This cd would work well in creating any kind of ambient/shoegaze/dreampop style track, and would also work very well in adding that “unknown” element to a stale digital track
