Description: The CZ V models the Casio CZ-101 and CZ-1000, two iconic synths behind many of the 80s pop hits. It adds a ton of new features that make it a tool for centuries to come. Casio’s mid-80s digital synthesizers were light in price and great in sound. Listen to it and your music will get really big with the new and improved CZ V.
Like you, we love synthesizers for every taste. That’s why we just had to recreate the true essence of Casio’s patented phase distortion synthesis that made their CZ series so popular. You don’t need to understand how phase distortion works – just let your ears hear how cool and unique it will sound in your music.
As you would expect from the entire V Arturia collection, our enhancements transform the CZ into an even more formidable sonic force that can transform your music.
Released in 1984, the CZ-101 was Casio’s answer to the hugely popular Yamaha DX7. It was significantly cheaper and much easier to program than the competitor. Instead of frequency modulation, Casio phase distortion (PD) used a variety of user-selected signals to modulate the timing of simple carrier waves at the cycle level to create more complex waveforms. This simplified form of digital synthesis made it relatively easy to refine a wide variety of voices, including warm pads, natural percussion, buzzing digital, sci-fi effects, and even analog synthesizers.
While PD may sound similar to FM, it also has a unique sonic feature. The CZ sound helped grab the attention of artists such as Salt-N-Pepa, Was (Not Was) and Vince Clarke. Let’s add your name to this list.
