Shaw is Reed’s free musical instrument and one of the three main woodwinds used in the music of the gagaku orchestra. It is believed that it consists of 17 thin bamboo tubes and resembles the late phoenix because of its shape. In ancient times, the smooth tonal character of shaw was associated with light shining from heaven.
