Description : Devastor is a simple, but remarkable, multi-band distortion effect. It is an extended version of the distortion device of our PHOSCYON synthesizer. Being multi-band, it presents endless sonic possibilities!
Devastor consists of three blocks: a dynamic gain module, a Diod-Clipper Distortion and three filter sections. Each of the filters can handle the signal before or after the Diod-Clipper. Filters do not exacerbate the EQ-type, which is commonly used in classic multiband distortions. They are similar to those that stand on analog synthesizers: (low pass, high pass, band pass and band reject) – with adjustable resonance and cutoff band. As a result, Devastor has a completely unique sound – it’s enough just to check the factory presets.
Devastor can be used for both distortion and expansion of the sound spectrum – from the acid Acid synthetic guitar-Fuzz to the sound of an analog amplifier with a combo speaker. It can be used even with drums in order to make their sound more “dirty” and dynamic! Devastor is not only a good distortion. It can also be used to give the sound a more subtle timbre and a gentle character. Reducing the pre-amplification, increasing the trigger threshold and selecting a smoother knee in the compressor will bring more heat and detail the sound without using distortion.
When designing Devastor, we applied special anti-aliasing methods of smoothing the output signal to make sure that the output signal does not have aliasing (aliasing is one of the reasons why digital audio distortion blocks sound so cold and unmusical). As a result, Devastor has a warm, musical and very high quality sound.
