additional plug-ins and over 20 additional workflow improvements.

Additional information:
Nuendo 13 continues the developers’ policy of consistently updating all their products. Many of the features introduced in the 13th version of Nuendo were previously added to the Steinberg Cubase 13 DAW, which was released in early November 2023.

Nuendo 13 has new tools for recording and processing dialogues, expanded support for MPEG-H Audio, new plug-ins and functions for working with Dolby Atmos audio. The changes also affected the program’s interface, which has become “more convenient and simpler,” the company said.

Among the tools for working with speech and dialogues, a function for working with text ADR Script Reader has appeared. The function allows centralized display of texts and other information on computers in one local network. The function is also compatible with tablets and smartphones: after connecting to the local network, mobile devices will be able to display texts through a web browser, connecting to the local ADR server. The server itself is installed on the same station where Nuendo is installed and launched.

It is noted that the information always remains relevant, and any changes in the texts are synchronized in real time. The text can be synchronized in time with the video sequence or music, while the approved changes will be displayed in the project as markers. For example, you can prepare the text for the speaker in the project and display it on the tablet in the vocal room where the recording is taking place. The speaker will be able to independently interact with the text, make edits to it and track what exactly he should “say” during the recording.

To improve the consistency of dialogues, the program now has a TonalMatch function. The technology analyzes the characteristics of audio tracks in a project and creates a general sound profile that can be used as a guide when processing other clips in the project. According to the developers, TonalMatch simplifies spectrum matching between multiple clips and does not introduce additional distortions and noise.

In addition, the program now has a VoiceSeparator tool for isolating voices. It can be used to separate the main voice from any background sounds, remove other voices and other unwanted sounds in the recorded file. It is noted that the separator uses machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies that increase the accuracy of signal detection and separation efficiency.

For voice processing, Nuendo 13 added the VocalChain effects chain, previously introduced in Cubase 13. The chain combines various processing, which allows you to abandon multiple plug-ins and centrally “tweak” the voice inside VocalChain. The developers note that the plug-in is built on a modular structure, which makes voice processing quite simple.

Other changes include improvements to the Detect Silence panel and improvements to the ADR Swipe feature. The program also received expanded support for TTAL 1.1 for preparing audio tracks for Netflix.

Nuendo 13 also received a set of new functions for working with spatial audio. For example, the program now supports the MPEG-H format and can pan the signal in a volumetric space (through the appearance of the Z axis in the panner). The developers also improved the ADM Authoring window, making it more visual, and added a new renderer for Dolby Atmos.

The 13th version of the workstation received a set of new effects similar to what was added to Steinberg Cubase earlier. The list of plug-ins now includes new compressors, equalizers, and a vocoder, as well as an updated Sampler Track. The mixer window has also been redrawn for a more visual and simple display of information.
