We did not exclude the famous Yamaha CP-70 from sampling. We sampled this legendary electric grand piano with such detail that you will never need to sample it again. 94.604 samples to be exact. An electric grand piano is similar to a conventional grand piano, except that the vibration of the strings is converted by electric pickups, similar to the vibration of an electric guitar. We recorded and processed the CP-70 at 24 bit / 96 kHz in our renowned UK studio.
The vintage CP-70 contains both standard (Sustains, Staccato, Staccatissimo w / RR) and a wide range of articulations (such as Plucked Strings, Picked Strings, Muted Strings, Harmonics, etc.). All standard sustain samples were recorded with the pedal up and down. In addition, we also have two types of staccathisimo (with / without RR) for fast play styles.
We also opened the CP-70 and recorded what’s inside, including plucking strings and gently mute for different types of sounds. The Vintage CP-70 Piano also contains a large selection of presets that features many variations of the instrument. The library contains 8 different types of vintage microphones and 2 different types of reverbs.
Microphones include the Neumann 87, Coles, Neve SE Ribbon, AKG 414, Neumann KM 184, and a mixed mic position that was created by combining all 24 mics used in sessions. We also recorded all samples with two world class reverbs (Bricasti and TC-Electronics 6000), so you have the best microphones and reverbs.
The CP-70 was recorded using 100% analog signal stream from the NEVE preamp and further amplified with a string of hardware including a Manley Vari Mu compressor, the original Urei 1176 (Pre-Universal Audio), the original DBX 160, Neve 33609 compressor.
The CP-70 also includes full velocity control, tremolo and tremolo speed, resonance and triggers, pedal volume, analog noise, and full ADSR control. The 8Dio Studio Vintage Series CP-70 is best described as the ultimate deep sampling electric grand piano. Unique, expressive and next-generation feature rich.
